Based out of Western Australia, Westfill provides quality personnel, products, and operational contract services into the underground mining industry. We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Westfill . This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with software engineers, contribute to product development, and support the launch and deployment of cutting-edge industry solutions. Responsibilities: As a Junior Mechanical Engineer at Westfill , your responsibilities will include: Collaborating with software engineers to integrate calculations and workflows into software currently under development, ensuring proper functionality through rigorous testing. Assisting with product launches, rollouts, training sessions, and deployments at various sites. Contributing to the development of future software products. Assisting with completing design calculations and component and material selection for physical products and systems currently under development. Preparing functional, material, and finishing specifications. Converting concept sketches into detailed drawings ready for fabrication. Assisting with the design of hydraulic and electrical systems. Liaising with vendors and obtaining quotes for fabrication, managing the fabrication process, including QA/QC checks and acceptance testing. Assisting with the preparation of parts lists and maintenance programs/requirements for completed products. Developing operational and maintenance procedures. Providing on-site presence during commissioning, testing, and client training. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, qualities, and experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. A recent graduate with preferably 1-2 years of post-graduate experience in heavy industry maintenance or fabrication. New graduates with no post-graduate experience are also encouraged to apply. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong maths and document writing skills. A hands-on, practical approach. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Be self-motivated and have a team-oriented approach. Current Valid Manual Driver’s License. A willingness for intermittent travel to remote sites, interstate, and internationally.
