Key Points Mentoring from the leading experts in SMSF law Opportunity for career progression in a growth area Great team culture Job Summary Leading SMSF law firm seeks a junior lawyer who will work in a progressive firm preparing a range of SMSF and related legal documents (including trusts, companies, and other related documents). As your skills and expertise develop, you will advise on a wide range of transactions that SMSFs and their members are involved in, including legal, commercial, trust, tax, and related aspects. Introduction We are currently seeking a lawyer to join DBA Lawyers’ South Melbourne-based legal team. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative team working in the area of SMSF and related law. We are ideally seeking applications from admitted lawyers with 0–4 PAE. About You The successful candidate will have: a strong work ethic, willingness to take initiative, and be performance-driven; advanced information technology skills and high-level proficiency in MS Office; the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment; strong oral and written communication skills and proficiency in legal drafting; the ability to build trusted client relationships; sound time management skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines; a commitment to ongoing learning and attention to detail. SMSF law involves diverse areas of practice, including trusts, tax, corporations, property, administrative law, finance, and many other areas. Our SMSF and high-net-worth clients are regularly undertaking a wide range of transactions both here and overseas; accordingly, some understanding in one or more of these practice areas is desirable. The Role We are looking for a person with the right combination of skills and a commitment to delivering excellent client service to join our team. The role will initially comprise: the preparation of SMSF, corporate, trust, and related strategic and legal documentation; assisting our senior lawyers in relation to research and the preparation and delivery of technical advice/articles; servicing our Australia-wide adviser client base. Subject to successful performance and appropriate experience, the role should evolve over time (as your skills and experience grow) to include: advising on more complex and interesting transactions; representing clients in dealing with government regulators, including the ATO; planning and structuring advice; SMSF-related tax advice. In this role, you will be given the opportunity for excellent career progression, including ongoing training relevant to the role. You will obtain excellent experience with understanding and preparing different document suites and assisting advisers throughout Australia with their queries.
