We are seeking an experienced Lawyer/Senior Associate to join our Melbourne complex commercial litigation and disputes practice. This role will be working alongside highly regarded partners John Kelly and Christien Corns, who are recognised as some of Australia’s leading alternative dispute resolution and litigation lawyers. The partners have extensive experience covering a broad spectrum of litigation including advising clients in relation to major corporate incidents; multi-party class action; complex corporate litigation and insurance; professional indemnity; and defamation and related media issues, making this a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to progress their career in a high performing team. The role In this role, you will work with corporate clients in commercial disputes which may involve professional indemnity insurers defending lawyers and barristers in negligence claims, major tort or contractual claims and class actions in the energy and resources, sporting, banking, and property sectors, as well as public inquiries with government and regulatory authorities. You will be a key member of the team and will be afforded opportunities to act on a diverse range of matters including: corporate and regulatory disputes (shareholder disputes, ACL and regulatory matters); defending a variety of negligence claims; defamation claims; investigations and prosecutions by regulatory authorities; You will have autonomy to take ownership of the day to day running of files with supervision and mentoring from senior members of the team. You will also be encouraged to be involved in firm activities and committees, including business development, mentoring, delivering training, and presenting to clients and professional organisations. To be successful in this role you will ideally have 3-5 years' experience which includes working on large scale litigation and capabilities to run your own files. Experience with professional indemnity claims is desirable, as is working on larger scale arbitrations and litigation. You will be commercially astute, have a strong eye for detail and be a valuable team player. In addition, you will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual.
