In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s civil/structural aspects where you will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s civil/structural aspects are met. Major Responsibilities: Plans and conducts independent Civil/Structural work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Civil/Structural engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on a medium-sized project or assignment in support of a global business unit. Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs), Design Control Check List (DCCL), and Design Review Notices (DRNs). Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for the project to which assigned. Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering. Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements. Other responsibilities as designated. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge and Skills: Technical knowledge of, and experience in, Civil / Structural engineering discipline, including methodology, cost, scheduling, and contracts administration relating to the construction of mining and metals projects. Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment with prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors. Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation. Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards. Demonstrated capabilities in a leadership position, mentoring, and guiding others. Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
