The school now has more than 2,500 students supported by approximately 350 teaching and Education Support staff. The College’s Leadership consists of 9 Principal Class Officers and 35 Middle Tier Leaders (LS/LT). There are 40 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in the College and over 780 EAL student enrolments. Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to model exemplary teaching practice, including teaching literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum. SC2: Demonstrated expertise in implementing high-impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs. SC3: Exemplary ability to model the monitoring and assessment of student learning, supporting others in using data to inform teaching practice. SC4: Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, engaging in collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the broader school community. SC5: Ability to model behaviours consistent with Department values and support others in reflecting on their practice. Role Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning. They will have responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers, and facilitating school-based professional learning. Responsibilities Key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to: Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice. Modelling exemplary classroom practice through teaching demonstration lessons. Working with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of effective teacher practice. Leading the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery. Providing professional learning, including processes and protocols for observation and feedback of teacher practice. Providing evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness and development. Supervising and training student teachers and mentoring teachers. Modelling exemplary use of student data to inform teaching approaches. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
