This role will specifically be working within the School of Psychology. About the role: The Lecturer will have responsibility for coordinating placements in the Deakin School of Psychology Clinical Programs. Working with the Director of Clinical Programs and Partnerships and the course leadership group for professional psychology programs, the focus of this role will be to ensure trainees obtain high quality placements that are consistent with the requirements of the program. The appointee will also contribute to teaching, service and research in the professional psychology programs. The appointee will promote the School and maintain links and partnerships with relevant academic, industry and professional communities. The incumbent may be required to provide supervision to postgraduate professional students on placement, if needed. They will coordinate and participate in other teaching and learning activities necessary to prepare and to support students to achieve success on placement and forming part of Clinical Placement Unit requirements. In addition, they will be required to contribute to relevant teaching in the professional psychology programs and support research at a level consistent with the time fraction of the appointment. As a Lecturer, Education-focused, you will: Work with the Director of Clinical Programs and Partnerships and Course Directors within the Professional Psychology Programs, to develop and maintain relationships with agencies for the purpose of securing and providing high quality professional placement opportunities for Postgraduate Professional Psychology students. Participate in developing and nurturing links and partnerships with industry, professional bodies and the wider community. Develop and administer professional development programs for field supervisors to facilitate the growth of the number of placement supervisors in the region who meet the criteria for Registered Supervisor endorsed status as required by the Psychology Board of Australia. Develop flexible-delivery course materials relating to placement requirements of the course, including online materials. Contribute to the development of systems for assessment of placements, including evaluating supervisee competency. Oversee and fulfill recording of placement data, including completion of internal and external records. Teach in the area of professional psychology at the undergraduate and postgraduate level that is consistent with the University’s principles of teaching, learning and the student experience. Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements. To be successful, you’ll have: PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience. Registered psychologist (APHRA). Area of practice endorsement *Desirable. Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor status * Desirable. Record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design. Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning. Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement. Ability to contribute to communities through research. Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
