About the Role Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) is an integrated system of four processing hubs and five mines, connected by more than 1,000 kilometres of rail infrastructure and port facilities in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia. BHP are currently seeking highly motivated Light Vehicle / Heavy Vehicle Mechanics who are interested in moving to Port Hedland and joining our Port Operations residential teams for upcoming opportunities. Having the right people working within our organization focusing on our maintenance will allow us to unlock the value of our assets by ensuring that we have reliable equipment, predictable operations and a safe work environment for our people. Roster: Lifestyle roster (4 days on - 5 off, 5 days on - 4 off, 5 days on - 5 off) In your role your primary duties will include but are not limited to the following: Servicing, repairs, inspections, planned and breakdown maintenance on a variety of auxiliary and Surface Mining equipment. Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and assisting in the implementation of new initiatives in a constructive way. Demonstrating a focus on safety, achievement and team engagement in all aspects of work. Following specific maintenance programs and procedures and carrying out checks on equipment as required. Ensuring accurate completion of technical documentation, reports and drawings as required. Being comfortable in the use of computerized maintenance systems (SAP), including time confirmations, raising notifications and closing work orders. Taking personal responsibility for helping the team achieve expected results by doing what is required and taking timely actions within the scope of ability without being supervised. Undertaking training on a regular basis and providing support and coaching to workmates within area of responsibility. Assisting the Maintenance Supervisor with rescheduling of work, organizing and coordinating resources, scoping of work and determining priorities when required. About You Australian recognised Light Vehicle / Heavy Vehicle Mechanical cert. Australian Drivers Licence. Automotive air conditioning ticket. High risk licence – Dogging, Overhead Crane, Working at Heights (not essential). Demonstrated diagnostic and breakdown experience ideally with both LV/HV trucks and SME. Commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail. Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, be self-motivated and show passion toward the equipment within the department.
