Route Planning & Optimization: Plan, organize, and optimize transportation routes to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing costs. Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels, track shipments, and ensure stock levels meet business requirements. Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs). Transportation Management: Carrier Selection: Select and negotiate with carriers for the most cost-effective and reliable transportation options. Shipment Tracking: Ensure timely tracking of shipments and manage potential delays or disruptions in the supply chain. Compliance with Regulations: Ensure all transportation operations comply with local, state, and international transportation laws and regulations. Warehouse & Distribution: Warehouse Operations: Oversee warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping of products. Space Optimization: Ensure optimal use of warehouse space, implementing systems to improve storage efficiency and reduce costs. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory turnover and adjust supply levels as needed to prevent stockouts or overstocking. Team Leadership & Staff Management: Team Supervision: Lead and manage a team of logistics staff, including drivers, warehouse personnel, and logistics coordinators. Training & Development: Provide ongoing training for the logistics team to ensure efficient operations and adherence to safety procedures. Performance Monitoring: Monitor and assess the performance of logistics staff, providing feedback and implementing improvements. Budgeting & Cost Control: Cost Management: Develop and manage the logistics budget, ensuring operations are cost-effective while meeting business goals. Process Optimization: Continuously assess logistics processes to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Invoice Verification: Review transportation and logistics invoices for accuracy and ensure they align with negotiated rates. Process Improvement & Technology: System Implementation: Implement logistics software or systems (e.g., Warehouse Management System (WMS), Transportation Management System (TMS)) to improve efficiency. Data Analysis & Reporting: Use data analytics to identify trends, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement in logistics operations. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline logistics processes, enhance customer satisfaction, and improve overall supply chain performance. Customer Service: Order Fulfillment: Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment, meeting or exceeding customer expectations for delivery times. Issue Resolution: Resolve logistics-related issues such as delays, damaged goods, or missing shipments in a timely and effective manner. Communication with Customers: Maintain clear communication with customers regarding delivery status, shipment tracking, and any issues that arise. Health & Safety Compliance: Safety Standards: Ensure logistics operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks in logistics operations, including transportation accidents, inventory loss, and damage. Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure safety standards are maintained in warehouses and during transportation.
