As an M&E Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading the mechanical and electrical design across Australia's most significant infrastructure projects, specifically in Rail and Roads.You will be responsible for overseeing the development of cutting-edge mechanical and electrical designs, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with Australian standards, and integration with multidisciplinary project teams. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions that align with our commitment to excellence and environmental responsibility.Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of M&E engineers and designers in the development of electrical and mechanical solutions for major infrastructure projects. Oversee all aspects of electrical and mechanical design, including system layouts, equipment specifications, and integration with broader project requirements. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal project outcomes. Drive design innovation, ensuring compliance with industry best practices, Australian standards, and client expectations. Provide technical guidance and leadership throughout the tendering, design, and execution phases. Develop design strategies that optimise efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure alignment on design requirements and project goals. Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and quality assurance to uphold the highest design standards. Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. About you An experienced M&E Electrical Design Manager you bring 10+ years of experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably rail and road projects, with strong expertise or working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. Additionally, you can bring:Proven experience in leading design teams and delivering major tenders and projects. Deep understanding of Australian standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental considerations in electrical and mechanical design. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A proactive and solution-oriented mindset with a passion for engineering excellence. Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related field (master’s degree preferred). Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility for chartered status is highly desirable.
