YOUR ROLE As the Manager - AI Software Engineering, you’ll lead and mentor a team of software engineers and AI cloud solution architects, driving innovation in software engineering practices through AI-assisted technologies. This role involves improving end-to-end software engineering practices, focusing on building scalable, efficient applications for AI, data, and GenAI solutions within the insurance domain. You’ll establish an inner-sourcing framework and practice for AI software development, oversee architecture and design, and collaborate with AI product managers, data, and cloud platform leaders to align efforts. Additionally, you’ll support product owners with feasibility assessments, technical leadership, and guidance on product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with the broader AI and technology strategies. This is a permanent position open to candidates located in Sydney or Melbourne. ABOUT YOU We’re seeking a technology leader with strong people management skills, a focus on customer satisfaction, and a knack for problem-solving and innovation to drive business value, along with the following experience: Deep expertise in end-to-end software engineering practices: Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams, managing the SDLC, and delivering scalable cloud-native applications. Advocacy, good knowledge and hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development lifecycle and practices, from design and architecture to operationalisation and integration. Hands-on experience with tools like GitHub Copilot, V0 by Vercel, Cursor AI, Replit Agent, etc. Expertise in cloud platforms: Experience in building and managing applications on major cloud platforms (experience with GCP is preferred), including containerising, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines. Strong leadership and communication skills: Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams, collaborating across disciplines, and communicating technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders. Commitment to ethical AI: Understanding of ethical AI principles and a strong commitment to responsible AI and software development practices.
