Job Description The Manager, Claims Operational Risk will lead delivery of day-to-day operational risk management across claims. The role is responsible for executing the Line 1 risk management framework, including but not limited to, RCSA actions & controls, control assurance & testing, identification and tracking of incidents, Risk Committee oversight and reporting, along with relevant risk-based reporting & analytics. This role will also be involved in supporting the business to satisfy their responsibilities in complying with TAL risk frameworks and processes. In addition, this role will contribute to the analysis and implementation of various identified risk & compliance initiatives. In this role you will: Oversight of the Risk Management Framework within Claims. Drive a strong and positive risk culture within Claims. Ensure that all Risk Analysts are effectively managed, including the development of coaching and training support plans. Deliver on all TAL people management requirements and expectations. Support the claims business to develop adequate process control consideration and implementation. Assist in formulating corrective strategies and implementation plans for key corrective actions and preventative controls. Conduct analysis of operational and compliance risk initiatives within claims. Assist claims business units in identifying potential risks and incidents associated with their day-to-day business practices and goals. Track status of incident actions and follow-up with the business. Content development of Claims Risk Committee papers and act as the chair of Claims Risk Committee meetings. Preparation and oversight of relevant Risk in Change and Risk Acceptance documentation. Deliver small-to-medium-scale projects or well-defined tasks on major projects to improve Line 1 Risk Management. Guide and support the management of the RCSA process including: the coordination of RCSA workshops, tracking of RCSA actions, reporting on RCSA performance, and assurance testing on controls. Monitor and report on relevant RAS metrics. Attend and represent on project teams and working groups and associated change activities to review risk impacts and control strategies. This may include development of Risk in Change documentation as required. Qualifications Minimum 5 years experience in operational risk management. Minimum 5 years experience in people leadership. Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to relate well to others and explain complex scenarios in a simple way. Well developed analysis and problem solving skills. Well developed self-management skills including planning, prioritising and time management. Strong reporting and analytical skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines in a professional manner. Ability to familiarise oneself with relevant business unit and enterprise procedures, policies and guidelines and review their application. Proficient level of skill using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook). You’re always accountable for your actions. You never give up.
