We are seeking an experienced Manager (First Nations Engagement) to join the team at RoadTek, a commercial business within the Department of Transport and Main Roads. We provide transport infrastructure solutions for projects across Queensland. We are a multi-disciplined organisation with accreditation to national and international standards. Reporting directly to the General Manager, RoadTek, you will focus on representing and advocating for the interests and initiatives that pertain to First Nations communities, thereby becoming a pivotal aspect in RoadTek's organisational ethos. This role is an identified role under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. The location of this position can be negotiated to be performed from any of our RoadTek office locations (Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Toowoomba, Warwick, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast or Brisbane CBD). The Manager (First Nations Engagement) is responsible for providing strategic direction and advice to RoadTek leadership on engagement with First Nations communities and integrating First Nations perspectives into RoadTek decision-making processes. The role will require skilled communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution to navigate work and through sensitive issues between the organisation and First Nations groups. The successful candidate will initially be responsible for establishing the First Nations Engagement function within RoadTek. This will include the development of an implementation plan, the creation of processes and procedures, and building a small team to provide support. These contributions will be vital in strengthening RoadTek's resolve to cultivate an inclusive work environment, in alignment with TMR's Reframing the Relationship Plan 2023-2025. The principal duties of the Manager (First Nations Engagement) will demand a high level of initiative and independent operation. Your expertise and history of engagement with First Nations peoples, communities, and organisations will be critical in offering strategic direction and leadership within RoadTek. To Be Successful You Will Need: Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and understanding of First Nations cultures and societies from a historical and contemporary perspective. Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations peoples. The ability to drive change at all levels of an organisation. The capability to build and lead a team with a unified vision. Self-awareness and the ability to be a positive representative of RoadTek, role modeling behaviours and attitudes in alignment with the Queensland Government's values and priorities. Commitment to integrating First Nations perspectives into departmental initiatives and strategies. A high level of capability in influencing others without authority. Experience in, or a high level of understanding of change management and risk management.
