Engagement Officer and Senior Engagement Officer, South Queensland Region Employment Type: Ongoing & Non-ongoing (for an initial period of up to 12 months) Classification: APS Level 5 ($85,633 - $91,549), APS Level 6 ($94,715 - $106,438) This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the NIAA delegate. Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years. A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement. The Opportunity: The South Queensland Region (SQR), which encompasses offices in Rockhampton, Toowoomba and Brisbane, is seeking a range of Engagement Officers who will support strategic initiatives to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the Rockhampton sub-region. APS 5 Responsibilities: The Engagement Officer assists in managing the day-to-day activities to deliver high quality services and policy implementation and ensuring tasks are completed within performance measures. They may also undertake management or work on small projects in the team or work in larger projects in the Branch. The Engagement Officer models supportive and collaborative behaviours, manages effective internal and external relationships, negotiates with stakeholders in more complex matters, and resolves escalated customer issues where appropriate. The Engagement Officer promotes a healthy and safe workplace environment, and models ethical behaviour in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct and APS Values. APS 6 Responsibilities: The Engagement Senior Officer oversees the day-to-day operations to ensure high quality services and successful policy implementation, meeting performance goals. They manage or support small projects within the team and contribute to larger regional initiatives. They foster a supportive and innovative team culture, valuing staff contributions, coaching, and sharing expertise to enhance capabilities within the team and across the agency. The role promotes a safe, ethical workplace aligned with the APS Code of Conduct and Values, modelling professionalism and integrity. These positions are integral to implementing strategies that support place-based, local and regional decision-making, enabling communities to have a voice in the policies and programs that affect them. Work travel is required as a part of these Engagement Officer roles. Other locations within Queensland may be considered.
