An exciting opportunity has become available for a Manager, Grid Connections Engineering. This role will see you providing leadership, guidance and technical expertise to the Grid Connections Engineering team and lead successful delivery of grid connection engineering activities associated with the connection of all major generation (>1.5MW), storage and major load connections to AusNet’s regulated electricity distribution network. With a hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank, Melbourne and is part of the Grid Connections Engineering team within our Distribution line of business. This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to: Develop solutions that enable the successful negotiation of major load and generation connections pertaining to network growth incorporating engineering innovations, new technologies and commercial solutions providing value add to projects for both AusNet and its customers. Ensuring long-term integration of customer’s needs with AusNet’s capital augmentation and replacement investments. Oversee the end-to-end connection processes for our major ED customers from preliminary enquiry through to project close. Enable the provision of tailored customer energy solutions as part of network connection process. Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions for grid connections (generator, loads and storage). Assess connection applications including the connections of renewable energy generation, battery and storage systems, and other new technologies. Manage the technical studies required to comply with the NER for new connections. Investigate safety, capacity, reliability, system security and quality of supply issues related to connections to the ED network. Coach, mentor, develop and retain talent including career development plans. You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of: Degree qualified in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred). Demonstrated experience in engineering roles within Electricity Networks &/or the renewable energy industry including experience leading an engineering team. Strong technical knowledge and experience in various engineering activities associated with the grid connection process of medium to large scale generation, storage and loads, including various technical studies to comply with the NER requirements. Business and commercial acumen including ability to develop both technically and commercially viable solutions. High level of consulting, influencing, interpersonal and communication skills.
