The Strategic Planning and Policy team’s responsibilities are varied with a key role being that of keeping the National Capital Plan under constant review and proposing amendments to it when necessary. This work includes research, preparation of planning and design policy, and consultation and engagement with stakeholders. The Strategic Planning and Policy team also prepares other policy documents including development control plans, manages diplomatic land in the National Capital, and administers leases and licences for a range of activities undertaken on National Land. We are seeking a motivated person interested in joining a team of built environment professionals committed to achieving design quality and delivering projects befitting of Australia’s National Capital. Job Responsibilities/Duties The role performs a key part in reviewing the National Capital Plan and undertaking the amendment process as required, as well as assisting with or leading other strategic planning and policy initiatives. Duties will depend on unit priorities and may include: Undertaking the process of amending the National Capital Plan, including research into contemporary planning approaches, and development of planning and design policy to achieve desired outcomes. Assisting with or leading other strategic planning and policy work in the context of legislation and government policy, including the preparation of strategic reviews and development control plans. Providing high level planning and policy advice to stakeholders, including the NCA Board, within the context of relevant legislation and the National Capital Plan. Utilising well-developed stakeholder engagement skills to work with stakeholders, plan and undertake consultation activities, and represent the NCA at a range of forums. Managing consultants and contracts where arrangements are in place for a third party to provide specialist advice and services. Supporting the Director in the strategic, resource and day-to day performance management of the Section. Participating as an effective member of the National Capital Authority including providing reasonable support to NCA business sections, where appropriate and required. Job Skills and Qualifications Qualifications, or significant experience, in the field of urban planning or related discipline is mandatory. Ability to gain and maintain a security classification of Baseline is mandatory. Preferred Experience High level skills, knowledge and experience in urban planning, planning and design policy development, or similar would be an advantage. #J-18808-Ljbffr
