Applications close Sunday 23 February 2025 at 11.59PM Overview Work type: Ongoing - Full Time Salary: $134,593 - $180,115 Grade: VPSG6 Occupation: Planning Location: CBD Reference: 6622About the Role Reporting to the Director, Road, Active Transport and Tram Planning, the Manager, Tram Planning will be responsible for leading the tram planning team, the development of strategic artefacts and plans, providing input to planning projects, specifying timetable changes, and planning for trams as part of precinct and activity centre planning. Collaboration will be required across the Department and with other key partners as part of this role. Produces plans for Melbourne’s Tram Network and leads the delivery of subordinate planning guidance artifacts. Uses evidence including modelling and analysis to support proposed changes to the network. Supports the development of business cases, programs and pipelines for changes to the tram network. Provides and develops Network Planning Requirements for strategic and major projects and acts as network client where required. Collaborates closely with other DTP Groups and external stakeholders to ensure integration of the tram network with the wider transport network and supporting land use. Leads and manages a high-performing, collaborative team. Key Selection Criteria The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a Manager of Tram Planning to lead the strategic direction and operations of tram planning initiatives. In this role, you will ensure day-to-day planning aligns with broader organizational strategies, guiding your team in setting objectives that link actions to strategic goals. You will be responsible for using systems thinking to diagnose trends, identify opportunities, and resolve problems, both within the team and in the wider community context. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to think critically, making informed decisions even in the absence of established guidelines, and will be adept at solving complex issues with innovative solutions. Your experience should include applying political and organizational knowledge to navigate both formal and informal decision-making processes while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards. You will also need to demonstrate advanced influence and persuasion skills, securing support for proposals and building relationships to drive outcomes. Managing a diverse team, you will communicate role expectations clearly, providing timely feedback to support performance and engagement.
