The Opportunity Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is seeking an innovative, passionate and result-focused leader to join as Manager Transport & Drainage Planning. This is a rare chance to step into a pivotal senior management role, overseeing critical infrastructure planning and making a lasting impact on the region’s development. You will lead the Transport and Drainage Planning Branch , guiding a diverse portfolio that includes: Integrated transport and drainage infrastructure planning. Strategic asset management. Program development, design, and survey. Road operations, parking, infrastructure technology systems, and aerodrome operations. Why Join Us? Key Responsibilities include : Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Transport and Drainage Planning Branch to achieve organisational goals and deliver cost-effective outcomes. Managing the preparation of appropriate strategies, guidelines, policies, procedures and works programs relative to the Branch and its Integrated Management System, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, codes and standards. Conducting ongoing monitoring, analysis, development and delivery of projects to ensure timely planning, design and delivery of multiple projects and programs, including new and/or replacement transport and drainage infrastructure. Formulating and managing the Branch budget including capital delivery, operational and administration functions and the preparation of reports and presentations for key stakeholders including the General Manager Infrastructure Services Group, the CEO and the Executive Leadership team, and Council. Managing staff, plant and other resources ensuring the effective use of Council’s people and assets. About You: You are a visionary leader with the drive and expertise to shape a region’s future. Your skillset includes: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree and/or post-graduate qualifications in Engineering, with confident capability, highly developed leadership skills and extensive relevant experience. Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) status, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of appointment. Demonstrated ability to provide high level leadership, motivation, mentoring and contribute to the professional development of a team of diverse professionals. Demonstrated extensive experience in the preparation, management and execution of commercial contracts to deliver transport and drainage planning projects. Relevant management qualifications with preferably substantial local government/public sector experience at a management level. What We Offer: A three-year renewable Executive contract.
