About the role The Manager of Health Information Services oversees the Health Information Services Department, ensuring the efficient, timely and effective management and distribution of health-related information. Key duties include providing internal consultancy to management regarding the impact of changes to activity-based funding in Victoria and trends in inpatient service delivery in relation to emerging benchmarks. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of the electronic patient record system at WDHS, as well as ensuring compliance with health information privacy, security and confidentiality standards. This role involves supervising the health admission clerk and the general health information team, while reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Services. Confidentiality protocols & privacy principles of the Health Records and Information Privacy Acts are required to be maintained at all times. Key responsibilities include Ensuring that the storage of records, management of the department and supervision of staff meets clinical governance standards, legal compliance and WDHS standards and objectives. Ensuring health record functions are available to meet clinical, operations and strategic requirements. Develop, implement and review the strategic and operational goals and plans, and KPI's in line with WDHS five-year strategic plan. Maintain compliance with accreditation and legal standards. Ensure internal and external reporting requirements are met. Implement, evaluate and manage the use of software including TrakCare for clinical, administration applications. Oversee the management of clinical coding processes to ensure compliance with activity-based funding reporting and monitoring of performance. Provide assistance with external requests for patient information requests as delegated by the Chief Medical Officer including Freedom of Information requests, coroner's requests, medical releases of information and similar requirements. You will bring Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent. Minimum of 2-5 years' experience as a Health Information Manager. The successful candidate must have or obtain a National Criminal Police Check.
