Public Sector People are working with a Victorian regional council to recruit a Manager of Operations for a temporary contract assignment.We are looking for an experienced Manager of Works & Waste Operations for a contract position with our client, a regional local government organisation located only 1 and a half hours drive from the CBD.If you're passionate about delivering key services that make a tangible difference in the community, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to important projects across waste management, climate change, and council infrastructure.This will be an initial 2 month temporary contract that offers hybrid working arrangements and potential opportunities for contract extension. The ideal candidate will have: Formal qualifications in a related discipline, and extensive experience in the area of waste and works services within local government. A high level of managerial experience and a proven track record as an effective leader. Project management experience, from initiation through to implementation working to time and budget deadlines. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to work effectively in a complex, political environment. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and present to a variety of stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the effective and efficient delivery of waste management strategies, services, and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s sustainability goals. Lead the planning, delivery, and management of capital works and maintenance programs within the Operations team, ensuring high-quality outcomes for the community. Manage sustainability initiatives, particularly focusing on climate change adaptation and mitigation, working to create a resilient future for the community. Develop and manage the waste, works, and climate change team budget, ensuring the effective allocation of resources. Foster strong relationships with staff, Councillors, community members, and external partners, ensuring open communication and collaboration. Interpret and manage relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance across all operational areas.
