About the Role The Market Surveillance Senior Manager reports to the Head of Surveillance and is responsible for monitoring the Markets business Fixed Income sales and trading desk. This role will be responsible for managing, maintaining and enhancing ANZ’s current trade surveillance program for Fixed Income within the Institutional Compliance business. The role is responsible for the operation of controls as well as control design, implementation and stakeholder engagement. What will your day look like? This role will be accountable for: Conducting investigations into trading activities, gathering data, documenting findings, and escalating issues where necessary. Providing advice, guidance and expertise on regulatory requirements and assisting business units to manage their regulatory risk. Understanding ANZ’s regulatory obligations as it relates to surveillance controls. Understanding ANZ’s global/local trading and sales distribution/booking models as it relates to the design requirements of trade surveillance controls. Proactively providing the Head of Surveillance with advice and insight in relation to control gaps or deficiencies in order to improve the overall design and operation of the control environment. Fostering strong working relationships with Market Risk and our Technology Partners. Fostering strong relations with trading and sales globally to understand the business model(s) globally and locally in the locations in which ANZ operates. Fostering strong relations with Treasury and Balance Sheet to understand the business model(s) globally and locally in the locations in which ANZ operates. Driving the development and implementation of surveillance controls across Rates and Credit, Debt Capital Markets, Treasury and Balance Sheet. Proactively working with Technology owners to review and recommend future operating models for trade surveillance. Setting the cultural tone (aligned with ANZ values) which encourages individuals to challenge status quo and develop creative problem solving. What will you bring? To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: 10+ years working in a Markets Trading, Sales, Market Risk as a Rates, Credit, Treasury or Balance Sheet subject matter expert. Previous experience in Market Surveillance, Market Risk or oversight a must; and high level knowledge of trade capture systems such as Murex. A track record in control design and implementation. Analytical Thinking Skills - Ability to independently analyse large and complex datasets to identify trading irregularities. Attention to Detail - Thorough in reviewing trading activity and documenting findings. Communication Skills - Clearly conveys compliance risks and surveillance findings to different audiences. Problem-Solving Skills - Identifies and addresses compliance challenges with effective solutions. Experience leading and developing a team; and proven relationship building skills and ability to influence outcomes. You’re not expected to have 100% of these skills.
