Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts Communications & Strategic Engagement - Channel Management; Governance and Strategic Communication; Corporate Services; Brisbane Come and join the department’s Strategic Communication team.We are looking for a strategic leader to amplify the great initiatives our department delivers through innovative and effective media opportunities.You will oversee proactive and reactive media management, including media strategies, social media and public information services and day-to-day enquiries, to meet organisational requirements. You’ll use your expert relationship building and negotiation skills to maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including the media and Minister’s Office, and supervising media and content officers to develop and deliver timely and high-quality media products. This role requires some out-of-hours and on-call duties, as required. Your contribution and key responsibilities: Deliver strategic media outcomes through expert advice and execution of responses to contentious and complex issues, natural disasters and public information. Lead development and execution of a full suite of media products to ensure the department's vision is communicated through media channels, collaborating with communication officers to amplify the message. Provide guidance and direction to media and content officers within the team, including training on using media portal, media reporting and media operations to increase capacity and capability. Provide guidance and support to media spokespeople, including managing relationships with third-party spokespeople and delivering media training. Oversee media operations, analysing outcomes and continuously improving to ensure media policies, standards and processes are effective, while also developing associated rosters, reporting frameworks and forward opportunity plans. Actively engage in a team environment and positive culture, by demonstrating our core values, celebrating success, and committing to continued learning and development. What we are looking for: Demonstrated experience in contemporary media practice and content creation within complex organisations will be highly regarded. Experience leading team members in the delivery of innovative media strategies, communication, media and social media content. Ability to apply critical-thinking and analysis in a fast-paced environment, remaining responsive to competing deadlines, priorities and stakeholders. Strong, respectful and collaborative relationships with journalists, peers, client areas and stakeholder networks. Proven project management capability, including the ability to successfully define priorities, allocate resources, gather insights and coordinate activities, to deliver results within specified or limited timeframes, budgets and with finite resources, while remaining agile to new or shifting priorities. Ability to communicate effectively with people with diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and have knowledge of both cultures and societies from an historical and contemporary perspective.
