Medical Specialist - Director of Tumour Stream Sarcoma Date: 2 Mar 2025 Location: MELBOURNE, VIC, AU, 3000 Unit: Chief Medical Officer Division: Chief Medical Officer Department: Chief Medical Officer YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE We are seeking a current permanent Royal Melbourne Hospital or Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Medical Specialist for the role of Director of Tumour Stream – Sarcoma. The successful applicant will have a minimum of 0.5EFT (including the 0.2EFT for this role) appointment across the precinct. The tumour streams promote collaboration across the Parkville Hospitals, with joint accountability to the Chief Medical Officers (CMO) of RMH and PMCC. The sarcoma service is responsible for statewide care of patients with sarcoma, with services also provided to Tasmania. The Tumour Stream Director is a leadership role responsible for the overall clinical management of the Tumour Stream including coordination of clinical services and multidisciplinary meetings, and development and maintenance of appropriate clinical pathways through collaboration with relevant departments. The appointee will be expected to: Provide clinical leadership and strategic direction for the Tumour Stream across the Precinct. Participate constructively to broader Cancer Leadership across the Precinct. Optimise and enhance multi-disciplinary patient care and ensure coordination of care across the Precinct hospitals and at St Vincent’s Hospital. Lead, promote and support research and education within and external to the Precinct. Establish a culture of cooperation and teamwork amongst all members of the Tumour Stream. Provide change management support to the Tumour Stream during the development and implementation of models of care. Advocate for appropriate resourcing of the Tumour Stream in collaboration with Departmental and Operations Directors. Accountabilities The Tumour Stream Director has direct responsibility and authority in the following areas: Developing and implementing an integrated, multidisciplinary model of care. Providing leadership and coordination of clinical services across the Tumour Stream. Planning for clinical service development in collaboration with relevant groups and departments. Developing and coordinating research and educational activities in the Tumour Stream. Interfacing with all relevant groups and departments. Delivering on the clinically relevant outcome measures determined for each service. Acting as a representative for the Tumour Stream. Enabling implementation of change management strategies to achieve a single Tumour Stream service across the Precinct Hospital Partners. Certifications, Licenses & Registrations AHPRA Registration Key Accountabilities Specialist Medical Registration with AHPRA. Fellowship of the relevant specialist college with evidence of attainment of continuing professional development requirements. Research facilitator with a strong academic track record in both education and research. Recognised as a professional leader in the tumour stream nationally/internationally. Strong leadership skills, strategic thinking and ability to influence. Proven track record of excellence in patient centred oncology clinical service delivery and leadership in multidisciplinary team-based practice. Commitment of a minimum of 0.5 clinical EFT (including this position) to any combination of the Parkville Precinct hospitals (RMH, RWH, PMCC). Higher degree in relevant discipline. Experience in the implementation of quality improvement, work practice reform and change within a large organisation. Clinical or Laboratory based research experience. Ability to effectively manage a wide range of stakeholders, and manage ambiguities.
