Motel Management Opportunity – Live and work in the iconic outback! Are you looking for a unique opportunity to live and work in one of Australia’s most iconic outback destinations?The Outback Motel in Mount Isa is seeking a motivated and hands-on Motel Management team of two. Why manage the Outback Motel in Mount Isa? Live onsite whilst working with progressive and supportive owners who, although living remotely, value a positive and collaborative working relationship. Manage a modern, well-established 26-room property that caters to corporate, leisure, and family travellers. About the role This hands-on management position is pivotal in ensuring smooth daily operations, maximising Average Daily Rate (ADR) and occupancy levels, and maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Working closely with the owners, you will play a major role in driving business success while delivering exceptional service to our guests. Key Responsibilities Guest services and reception: Manage guest check-ins, inquiries, and bookings with professionalism and a warm, country welcome; organise continental breakfast as required. Revenue management: Monitor and adjust room rates in response to local events in liaison with the owners. Property operations: Oversee housekeeping, laundry including washing all towelling (linen ordered in), basic room and property maintenance, pool care, and grounds upkeep. Administration: Respond to guest feedback, manage stock orders and inventory, and maintain operational records. Compliance and safety: Ensure adherence to Work Health & Safety (WHS), fire regulations, licensing, and essential service requirements. Trade and contractor liaison: Organise and coordinate external maintenance services when needed. To be successful you must have: Proven motel management experience (or similar accommodation industry experience). Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with a diverse range of guests and stakeholders. High level of computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Xero (or similar accounting software), and familiarity with Property Management Systems such as GuestPoint and SiteMinder. Experience working with online travel agencies (OTAs) including Booking.com and Expedia. Ability to live onsite, work weekends and public holidays. A current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain). A current RSA (or willingness to obtain). Willingness to participate in an online quiz if shortlisted.
