Multi Skilled Plant Operator (Construction) 69,344pa (includes industry allowance and uniform allowance) + 12% super + leave loading Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream B) - Level 5 of the EBA5 9 day fortnight 76 hour fortnight Location: Site based with a Petrie home depot location - please note, whilst this position has an allocated home depot location, the work will be based across various sites within the area and our team members will start and finish on the job site. Please also note - the home depot for this position will be changing from Petrie to our new Narangba depot in the coming months as we will be closing our Petrie depot. About our opportunity As a Multi Skilled Plant Operator, your primary responsibility will be to operate a variety of machinery on a daily basis, with a focus on backhoe operation. You'll also work interchangeably with other on-site equipment, including excavators and rollers, to perform civil construction duties. This position is part of Council's internal Construction team, primarily involved in stormwater and road-related projects. Key responsibilities include: Operating the backhoe as your main equipment Operating additional plant and equipment as needed, within the scope of your training and licenses Conducting daily pre-start inspections on relevant plant and equipment Reporting any defects, safety concerns or issues related to the machinery or ongoing projects This role requires a flexible approach to equipment operation and a strong commitment to safety protocols. You'll be an integral part of the team delivering Council's internal construction projects, with a focus on stormwater and road infrastructure work. About you Ideally, you'll have recent, relevant experience in a similar position operating a backhoe and other comparable machinery in similar settings. Your application will demonstrate previous experience operating a range of medium plant equipment used in civil construction or maintenance activities, with a particular emphasis on backhoe operation. You will bring your excellent communication skills, ability to work as part of a team, and your experience undertaking manual operational tasks in a safety-conscious environment. Safety is also a key priority for us as an organization, and we will be seeking candidates who not only have the knowledge and physical ability to safely undertake the manual tasks required in this role, but we want you to have a genuine desire to contribute to a positive safety culture. Paired with the above-mentioned skills and experience, you will also hold a current truck license (minimum HR - heavy rigid class), a Construction Induction Card, and Certification in the operation of Backhoe (LB) and at least another one of the below listed equipment.
