About Our Client The Multicultural and Multifaith Law Reform Consultative Committee (MMLRCC) provides expert advice to the Victorian Government on legislative reforms impacting multicultural and multifaith communities. The committee ensures that diverse voices are heard and considered in the development of Victorian laws, fostering social cohesion and intercultural dialogue. The MMLRCC is an entity within the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC), which supports the government in achieving its strategic objectives. Job Description As a Co-Chair of the MMLRCC, you will play a pivotal role in leading the committee to provide expert advice on legislative reforms. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and facilitating structured and productive meetings. A minimum of two meetings per year (in-person, online or hybrid). Bringing together diverse perspectives to develop clear and actionable positions or advice. Guiding the committee in aligning its work with government objectives and policy priorities. Managing differing opinions, resolving conflicts, and balancing competing interests. Providing timely, well-considered, and independent advice to the government. Championing social cohesion and supporting intercultural and interfaith dialogue. The Successful Applicant To be successful in this role, you will need: Demonstrated experience leading committees, boards, or advisory groups. Advanced skills in facilitating meetings and developing actionable advice. Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to align the committee's work with government objectives. Advanced skills in managing differing opinions and ensuring fair and respectful dialogue. Experience contributing to government advisory groups. Awareness of, and ability to champion, social cohesion in Victoria. Highly Desirable: Lived experience as a member of the multicultural and/or multifaith community. Knowledge of key issues impacting multicultural and multifaith Victorians with respect to law reform. Desirable: Understanding of legislative and parliamentary processes and regulatory frameworks. Understanding of governance principles, risk management, and accountability in the public sector.
