Part time 24 hours per fortnight (a fortnightly Monday shift & weekly Tuesday & Wednesday shifts) Location: Geelong and surrounding region A job share arrangement would be considered About the Department The Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program (VIHSP) is dedicated to early detection of hearing loss in newborns across Victoria, ensuring timely intervention and support for affected families. Operating within the Centre for Community Child Health, the program works closely with hospitals and healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality hearing screening services. About the Role This part-time position is 24 hours per fortnight within the Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program. You will be responsible for performing hearing screens on newborn babies using electronic equipment in accordance with VIHSP protocols. The process includes obtaining parental consent and providing clear information about the screening process, ensuring timely and accurate data entry and reporting of screening results, general administrative tasks such as scheduling, filing, data entry, and maintaining screening equipment while ensuring supplies are adequately stocked. Classification for this position will range from AO21-AO25 per annum, plus superannuation. What you’ll achieve: Contribute to the early detection of newborn hearing loss, ensuring that infants receive timely diagnosis and intervention. Provide family-centred, compassionate, and clear communication with parents about the screening process. Assist in the smooth operation of administrative duties, supporting efficient service delivery. Uphold the high standards of VIHSP, maintaining accurate records and assisting in quality assurance activities. Work effectively with the VIHSP team and hospital staff to support newborn hearing care. Your skills and experience Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with families, stakeholders and other team members. Proficient in data entry and general administrative tasks. Experience or ability to work in a hospital environment. Experience or comfort working with newborns. Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
