About Larrakia Cultural Centre: Our Vision is a living Larrakia culture for all Larrakia People now and for future generations. Our purpose is a place for Larrakia people to share, celebrate and showcase Larrakia Country, Language, Culture and Knowledge with the world. The Larrakia Cultural Centre will feature meeting rooms, amphitheatre, restaurant, kiosk, retail, exhibition, classrooms, men’s and women’s cultural areas and an arts workshop. Construction is currently in progress and the Centre is anticipated to open in mid 2026. About the Larrakia Cultural Centre Limited Board: The Larrakia Cultural Centre Limited Board is focused on successful outcomes, sustainable operations, promoting and preserving literature, music, performing arts, visual arts and craft, modern art and culture, cultural heritage and language; employment, training and business opportunities for Larrakia people. The Board also focuses on promoting reconciliation, mutual respect and tolerance between Larrakia people and others. Non-Executive Director competencies include: Knowledge and understanding of Director’s legal, ethical and financial responsibilities Strategic expertise Accounting and finance comprehension Understanding of compliance laws Understanding of not-for-profit compliance and governance Experience in managing risk, people and change Experience in similar venues or industries The Larrakia Cultural Centre Limited Board is committed to diversity and to recruiting Non-Executive Directors that represent a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and expertise. Candidates should have either completed the AICD Directors Course or be willing to undertake this training. This is a voluntary role. Candidates will have tertiary qualifications or relevant industry experience (to the level required of a Board member). Non-Executive Directors should have strong local links with Larrakia and the local Darwin community. Applications close 28 February 2025.
