Job Description

Operations Manager – Children’s Residential Services (Wagga and Queanbeyan) Are you passionate about making a lasting impact in the lives of young people with complex needs? Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Operations Manager to lead a cluster of children's residential services across Wagga and Queanbeyan. This is a pivotal role in supporting vulnerable children and young people on their journey toward healing and long-term stability. Please note that it is a requirement to live locally in Wagga or Queanbeyan and to be willing to travel between these locations regularly. About the Role As the Operations Manager , you will: Lead and mentor Therapeutic Care Teams, ensuring trauma-informed care is delivered within a culturally safe framework. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, to provide holistic, wrap-around support. Oversee operations, supervise staff, and implement a therapeutic care framework that supports children and young people transitioning to permanent care. Apply strong financial acumen to strategise and maintain budgets effectively. Ensure compliance with training, governance, and program standards in alignment with DCJ and OCG guidelines. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the ten essential elements of Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC). About You We’re looking for someone with: A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. At least three years of experience managing multiple residential services for children and young people in statutory care. A minimum of five years’ experience working directly with children and young people. Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to navigate complex situations. A deep understanding of trauma-informed care principles and experience applying them in practice. A full, unrestricted driver’s licence. Australian citizenship or permanent residency. Must be based locally to Wagga or Queanbeyan and be willing to travel between the locations as required.
