Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Member – Pacific Strategy. The AFP, through Pacific Command, has a lead role in Australia’s strategic engagement in the Pacific. This role requires collaborative, curious individuals who have a passion for researching and understanding geopolitical issues, regional countries, and cultures. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to complex and sensitive projects. Working closely with the Team Leader, you will contribute to analysis and advice to enable the Pacific Strategy team to meet its operational priorities and objectives. You will also be required to act in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. What will you do? Working under the team leader’s direction, the successful applicant will be expected to deliver against the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below. The primary responsibilities of the role are: Researching and analysing technical and all-source data to support development of strategies, optimise effects and inform capability decisions. Writing and editing various products, using outcomes of research and analysis. Share knowledge, experience and skills with others to achieve team outcomes Foster collaborations with internal and external networks, with a focus on gaining and sharing knowledge and identifying opportunities. Maintain currency and subject matter expertise through personal and professional development in methodology. Developing knowledge of legislative, policy, and security frameworks. Using a variety of information and communications technology, record-keeping, information management systems, and analytical tools. Essential Requirements Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance or the ability to obtain one; Demonstrated high level communication skills across a diverse range of operational/social environments; Contemporary knowledge of the Pacific Desirable Requirements Experience working in effects, intelligence, controlled operations or a similar role will be highly regarded. Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex issues to non-expert audiences Cultural, social, religious or language skills and experience.
