Department of State Growth - Tasmanian Institute of Sport Lead and manage the Tasmanian Institute of Sport’s (TIS) Para-Sport program. The role will oversee the identification, recruitment and support of para-athletes and ensure athletes are well supported to contribute and succeed in the Tasmanian and National Para-Sport Pathway. Duties Evolve the delivery of the TIS Para-Sport program (Junior Talent and Para Academy Programs) by providing cohesive management and leadership, and coordination of resources to ensure they are optimally applied in the identification, recruitment, and support of para-athletes. Build and strengthen relationships with allied health organizations, schools, disability organisations and state and national sporting organizations to support program growth, increase athlete numbers and enhance participant engagement. Expand and strengthen partnerships with Paralympics Australia and the AIS for program guidance, system connections, and access to specialized resources. Incorporate innovative technologies and testing methods to identify, recruit and support para-sport athletes. Provide advice to TIS, athletes and parents on relevant matters relating to para-sport to ensure every athlete is provided with the right advice regarding classification, eligible impairments and sport selection to maximise their chance of performance success. Coordinate and facilitate coach development and education opportunities for TIS coaches and support staff as well as external para-sport support personnel which enables an inclusive training environment for the program. The incumbent should expect to provide a hands-on approach to delivery in combination with other staff assigned to support the program. Actively participate and contribute to other sports programs and activities as determined by TIS management. Period of Appointment Appointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for two (2) years.
