Are you passionate about fostering collaborative learning environments and driving student success? James Cook University is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Learning and Teaching Development team in the Education Division as a Peer Programs Officer. Part time, 21.75 hours per week Fixed term to December 2025 Based at the Cairns Nguma-bada campus $85,816.60- $92,948.21 per year (pro-rata) plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits ABOUT THE ROLE Your responsibilities will include coordinating day-to-day operations of Student Peer Programs, managing enquiries, scheduling, and data collection for optimised program efficiency. You'll collaborate with staff in the College to identify suitable subjects and support requirements, enabling effective learning support activities. Additionally, you'll recruit and train casual Peer Program staff, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, and supervise and mentor them to deliver high-quality student support. You'll also contribute to continuous improvement of Student Peer Programs by evaluating student outcomes and making actionable recommendations for program enhancement. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Ideally, you will hold a degree qualification accompanied by relevant experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to build positive workplace cultures are essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder relationships, along with strong organisational, problem-solving, and administrative skills focused on meeting deadlines, are key. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to learn new programs and systems are also required. You’ll also bring cross-cultural communication skills and a commitment to improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
