About the role This role reports to the Head of People Partnering and Services, and your home-base is at our Geelong venue. As a part of our People & Culture corporate service, this position requires you to work one day a week at our Melbourne office with the P&C team. The successful candidate should expect to have some travel between Melbourne and Geelong, as required. As a Business Partner for the new Nyaal Banyul Venue, you will collaborate with the General Manager Nyaal Banyul and the venue leadership team to develop and implement the VCET people strategy on site. This is a rare opportunity to see a venue come to life! You will offer advice, guidance and support in embedding employee life cycle management practices at this new venue. The role is a truly generalist role encompassing recruitment, talent pipeline management, industrial and employee relations support, performance management and implementing P&C strategies onsite. You will be the face of People and Culture at the venue. You will be amply supported by your P&C colleagues at Melbourne, including a Workplace Relations Advisor, Business Partners, P&C Generalists, and an incredible Organisation Development team. Together, you will work on delivering consistent yet curated People and Culture services for all VCET employees. You will role model the VCET values, be invested in developing capability in your client group, supporting a positive and safe work environment, focused on continuous improvement and iteration of our services. What you will need We are seeking someone who: Has demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably as a stand-alone “Venue P&C business partner” in an organisation with a highly casualised workforce. Is customer centric, responsive, collaborative and uses their EI to deliver outcomes with empathy, whilst still addressing business needs. Has a strong understanding of governing laws, ER and IR practices, and case management. Has a consultative approach to advising and supporting employees and leaders. Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage challenging situations, including crises, with composure and confidence. Flexibility and ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a dynamic working environment. High levels of initiative, curiosity, and display of a positive “can-do” attitude. Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills, able to positively influence others. What's in it for you?
