About The Role: They have a permanent opportunity for a Planning and Project Controls Manager based in the Sydney CBD office, overseeing major infrastructure freight intermodal precinct projects. Reporting directly to the GM PMO and Project Services, this role plays a critical part in driving project planning, scheduling, and performance management functions across the portfolio. You will be responsible for establishing high standards, best practices, and ensuring successful project outcomes through proactive monitoring, performance measurement, and earned value management. This is a unique opportunity to lead and optimise planning processes, making a significant impact on the successful delivery of major projects. You Will: Lead the development and continuous improvement of scheduling processes, ensuring consistency and best practices across all projects. Develop and maintain comprehensive Integrated Master Schedules, including defining milestones, tasks, and timelines from initiation through execution. Proactively identify scheduling risks, delays, and potential disruptions, developing mitigation strategies and recovery plans to keep projects on track. Perform critical path analysis and track project progress, ensuring accurate reporting to stakeholders on status, delays, and adjustments. Implement Earned Value Management (EVM) to assess and measure project performance, identifying schedule variances and corrective actions. Conduct regular schedule health checks and collaborate with contractors to ensure alignment with project timelines. Participate in risk assessments related to scheduling factors, developing effective risk mitigation strategies. Oversee the change control process, assessing the impact of changes on project timelines and implementing necessary adjustments. Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of planners, Schedule Risk Analysts, and Project Control Specialists. Develop and deliver training programs to promote standardisation and collaboration across teams and departments. Prepare detailed progress reports, presenting findings to stakeholders with recommendations for corrective actions. About You: Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering. Extensive experience in planning, scheduling, and project controls, with expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM). Proficiency in scheduling software such as Primavera P6, with a strong understanding of project control processes. Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage changing project requirements and priorities. Strong leadership capabilities, with proven experience mentoring and guiding teams. Detail-oriented, with a commitment to data accuracy and reporting excellence. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly. Deep understanding of industry standards and best practices in project controls.
