Introduction:About Us Novita provides early intervention, rehabilitation, therapy, assistive technology and disability services to more than 4,300 people living with disability, as well as support for their families and carers. Our primary purpose is to enable kids, young people and adults living with disability and their families to participate in the community to their full potential.Description: In this dynamic and impactful role, you will lead and inspire the client’s Novita team, ensuring the effective implementation of behaviour support plans and restrictive practices in alignment with the positive behaviour support plan (PBSP). You will provide expert clinical oversight for the identification, authorisation, implementation, and reduction of restrictive practices across Novita’s community services, spanning both metropolitan and regional areas.Key responsibilities: Model expert “hands-on” delivery of therapy or behaviour support in education, community, and home settings. Collaborate with Managers and Service Coordinators to ensure practice standards are met and develop strategies to improve staff performance as needed. Identify and mitigate risks in practice, including proactive mitigation strategies and incident review analysis. Review PBSPs where Novita is an implementing provider and ensure plans meet legal and practice thresholds. Communicate effectively with clients and guardians regarding the PBSP, and collaborate with clients and their community team to ensure the PBSP is implemented effectively, considering the unique needs and requirements of the client. Ensure the effective implementation of restrictive practices and regularly monitor to ensure the least restrictive practice is used while respecting the client’s right to be treated with respect and dignity. Conduct regular reviews of plan implementation strategies to ensure staff are trained and effectively delivering the service in line with the PBSP. Support those implementing a plan to record and report behaviours and restrictive practices accurately. Skills and Experiences: To be successful in this role, you will have:Tertiary qualification in developmental education or other relevant allied health, social work, psychology or other relevant discipline. Full membership with the relevant discipline professional association (where applicable), and eligibility to be approved and maintain registration with the Department of Human Services as an Authorised Program Officer. Experience working in a human services field such as disability, aged care or mental health, with significant experience working with people with disabilities and knowledge of a broad range of disability types and complex behaviour. Proven experience in the implementation and delivery of person centred, positive behaviour support. Ability to effectively communicate with and support clients, their families, guardians and support networks, to address complex behaviour. Position Details: This role is advertised as a full-time position, however part time (0.8 full time equivalent) would be considered for the perfect candidate.We’re serious about safeguarding our clients. Enjoy salary packaging up to $15,900 of your salary, increasing your take-home pay by approximately $5,000.
