About the role In this role, you will support the Operational Analysis and Engineering team with key engineering functions including roll out and integration of the high-speed synchrophasor (PMU) network across the NEM; development of existing new applications utilizing PMU data to manage emerging power system risks and phenomena such as sub-synchronous controller interaction; event detection and analysis in operational timeframes. This role can be based at any of our office locations across multiple states. What you will be doing Be responsible for the roll out and use of high-speed Synchrophasor (PMU) data across the NEM. Maintain the data pathways that provide PMU data to the NEM control room and offline staff. Gather and implement requirements from internal and external stakeholders on use cases for PMU analytics. Research, develop and deploy novel analytics and visualizations for monitoring power system security using PMU data including oscillation detection and inertia estimation. Support the team with root cause investigation of power system events through data analytics. Develop high quality technical reports documenting the outcome of analysis including technical recommendations. Support the Manager in presenting the technical findings and assessments conducted to internal and external stakeholders and address feedback. Contribute to the ongoing development of team members and provide training to junior team members. Interface with stakeholders such as other AEMO departments, relevant Network Service Providers for technical discussions. What you will bring to the role 4 to 6 years of demonstrated experience in conducting power system analysis with various sources of power system data such as SCADA, synchrophasor (PMU) data and fault recorder data. Good understanding of power system monitoring and relevant standards such as IEEE C37.118. Good understanding of power system dynamics and stability concepts. Proficient in computer programming languages such as Python. Knowledge and experience of national electricity rules and principles of maintaining power system security. Ability to communicate technical findings to stakeholders and presentation of outcomes. Ability to think logically, analyze and solve issues. Ability to manage concurrent projects, timelines and priorities.
