Principal Facilities Services Officer - Disaster, Emergency and School Security Education (Organisation site)Infrastructure Delivery and Operations Branch, Infrastructure Services Division An exciting opportunity is available for a temporary Principal Facilities Services Officer to join our Disaster and Emergency team, Infrastructure Services Division, to coordinate or assist in the planning and delivery of training and exercises for departmental staff in relation to disaster and emergency management.This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis, until 17 February 2026 unless otherwise determined. About the Opportunity: This is your opportunity to provide high level advice to the Manager, Disaster and Emergency, Senior Management, Regional Directors and School Principals on a broad range of issues pertaining to the management of disasters and emergencies impacting schools in Queensland. About the Role: The Principal Facilities Services Officer will have responsibility for (but not limited to) the following: Participate in project teams on the development, implementation, maintenance and review of programs, policies and procedures, to support the strategic direction of disaster and emergency management for the department. Establish and maintain strategic networks to monitor issues and changes, and to identify, define and analyse best practice approaches to improving disaster and emergency management for the department. Prepare briefing materials and reports for the Minister and senior departmental officers on issues related to the strategic direction of disaster and emergency management for the department. Coordinate or assist in the planning and delivery of training and exercises for departmental staff in relation to the strategic management of disasters and emergencies impacting schools in Queensland. What you need to succeed: Specifically, we are looking for someone with the following attributes: Highly developed knowledge of contemporary disaster management, and the ability to apply this knowledge in accordance with legislative requirements, government policies and practices. High level capacity to work effectively under pressure, with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships, influence and motivate people, and to lead small teams calmly and confidently in times of crisis. Proven project and program management experience in the context of disaster and emergency management. Demonstrated effective communication, consultation, and negotiation skills with the ability to represent the department and establish and maintain mutually productive partnerships with team members and a diverse range of stakeholders. Experience managing disaster incidents in line with the Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS) or similar incident management system.
