PRINCIPAL MANAGER, SELF-INSURANCE $173,885 per annum + 11.5% superannuation Full time, fixed term opportunity until March 2026 Wadawurrung / Geelong based role (Hybrid work from home - 3 days a week in office) About the opportunity Are you an experienced senior leader in the field of workplace safety, self-insurance, or regulatory compliance? We are seeking a Principal Manager, Self-Insurance, to join the Premium & Self-Insurance Division of Return to Work Victoria in a key leadership role overseeing the regulation of Victorian self-insurers and employers exploring the potential to self-insure in the future. This pivotal position will oversee the strategic operations associated with the regulation of Victorian self-insurers and applicants to self-insure through the rigorous assessment of their performance and the promotion of OHS, injury management and return to work. As the Principal Manager, Self-Insurance you will be responsible for: Overseeing the strategic operations associated with the regulation of Victorian self-insurers. Providing high-level advice and recommendations on the performance of self-insurers to Worksafe's executive management. Working with other managers across WorkSafe to develop influencing strategies for self-insurers to drive improvements in occupational health and safety, injury management and return to work. Developing and maintaining relationships with self-insured (and potential self-insured) employers, and related key stakeholder groups, to understand and best meet their needs and concerns and to encourage strong safety performance. Representing WorkSafe externally to self-insurers, the Self-Insurance Association of Victoria (SIAV), other self-insurance jurisdictions, employer and employee representative groups and prospective self-insurers. Managing and leading a team of portfolio managers and teams of Subject Matter Experts to ensure Divisional objectives are met. About you To succeed in this role, you will have proven leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff in a team setting with experience in a similar regulatory or operational environment. Your ability to plan, work collaboratively and provide highly specialised advice to senior management and external stakeholders will be essential. You will also possess: Strong decision-making abilities and confidence to enforce regulatory standards. Experience working with large employers, government agencies and industry bodies. Broad knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations pertaining to self-insurance. Ability to manage financial, operational and reputational risks. Highly developed communication and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders.
