The Department of Transport’s Maritime directorate is responsible for delivering exciting and innovative projects and programs along the Western Australian coastline from Kununurra to Esperance. We are looking for an experienced Principal Maritime Planner to join our team and help shape the future of the directorate’s projects for the benefit of the Western Australian community. The Opportunity Our Maritime Directorate is seeking an innovative, experienced maritime planner to oversee one of Western Australia’s most significant development projects, the new Ocean Reef Marina. As the Principal Maritime Planner, you will be working alongside Development WA on this exciting project that will see the creation of Western Australia’s first coastal pool and surrounding parklands. Construction of a new boat ramp and space for approx. 550 new boat pens and 200 boat stackers. The marina will also include restaurants, retail, residential, and commercial buildings with hotels and short stay accommodation, a sports club and Marine Rescue facilities. You will use your skills and experience to identify and advance strategic maritime infrastructure plans and projects relevant to DoT’s responsibilities for maritime infrastructure in Western Australia. You will provide expert advice on maritime infrastructure planning and design and manage programs and projects to ensure a coordinated approach in the development of new maritime infrastructure. Additionally, you will lead research and develop reports into innovation, industry trends, statistical studies, and forecasts relating to the maritime sector, providing innovative and evidence-based solutions. This role will also have you involved in the implementation of the Fremantle Harbour’s Masterplan, specifically Boat Lifter Relocation feasibility studies, refining concepts and preparing business cases for upgraded maritime facilities. (SC3) Extensive experience in project management including defining, procuring and supervising specialist consultancy contracts to support project development and approval, and leading project teams. (SC4) Demonstrated ability to think strategically and apply analytical and problem-solving skills to complex issues and projects.
