Principal Policy Officer - Strategic Governance Education (Organisation site)Strategic Implementation, Governance and Educational Performance Branch Applications are invited for the permanent role of A07 Principal Policy Officer, Strategic Implementation, Governance and Educational Performance Branch, Schools and Student Support Division. Our ideal candidate will have superior project and financial management skills, policy skills, well-developed organisational, research, and analytical skills and a passion for driving business improvement. You will be able to provide evidence-informed frank, fearless and framed advice to identify recurring themes and issues to policies and procedures. You will also be able to quickly respond to changing demands and priorities, with the confidence to make quick decisions, balanced with delivering timely high-quality work. About the Role As Principal Policy Officer, your role will include the following key tasks: Lead and manage the development, implementation, and review of policies and procedures, including (but not limited to) school transport, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation; Apply project management methodologies, including policy analysis, budget and financial management; Provide policy advice to regional and school officers on the application of policies and procedures; Develop and deliver professional development in the administration of policies and procedures; Consult and liaise with key external stakeholders on matters related to policies and procedures; Author or provide input to divisional advice including (but limited to) departmental/ministerial briefing notes, fact sheets, correspondence, project and risk reporting, or submissions; Represent the department at negotiations in a variety of forums on issues relating policies, including parent and community groups, as well as welfare and community support providers; Communicate, negotiate and build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups; Research and assess related initiatives occurring at the community, local, state, national and international levels that may impact on the department's policies and procedures; Contribute to building an inclusive work environment, work design, and team culture to enable a positive and healthy workplace. About You The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes: Proven ability to research, analyse, and synthesise complex information, collect data, and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of policy and procedures; Exceptional writing and analytical skills, and an ability to apply whole-of-government perspectives; Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly; Demonstrated ability to conduct and critically analyse research and translate it into practice for education environments; Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to consult and negotiate persuasively on strategic policy issues and facilitate briefing material to senior management; Ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; Ability to work as part of a high functioning team, meet deadlines and function autonomously.
