Principal Solicitor, Banking Office of General Counsel Employment Type: Temporary Employment period: 12 months (March 2025 – February 2026) Classification / Grade / Band: Clerk Grade 11/12 Remuneration: $145,378 - $168,130; plus, Superannuation and Leave Loading Location: Sydney CBD, Flexible & hybrid working options available Applications Close: Thursday, 30 January 2025 at 9:59am Role impact & contribution As a Principal Solicitor, Banking , you will support the legal and contractual requirements of the Treasury Commercial Banking and Financial Services team, supporting the NSW Whole of Government Banking Tender procurement program and other procurement and contract management activities of the team. You will lead the development and implementation of strategic and operational legal frameworks, provide expert advice to senior stakeholders and direct the legal function to ensure legal service delivery enables and facilitates the achievement of organisational priorities within your portfolio responsibilities. You will undertake this function by providing expert advice, counsel and recommendations on highly complex and sensitive legal matters, to influence organisational decisions and initiatives within your portfolio of responsibilities. The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria: Admitted as a legal practitioner and holding a current unrestricted practising certificate Senior lawyer with extensive experience in banking and/or commercial legal work with a minimum of 10 years PQE Public sector experience in administrative law, procurement and other processes of government will be highly regarded Must be able to operate autonomously and work effectively with a broad range of stakeholders Strong experience in the provision of legal services, including providing legal advice, input into legal and governance policy and drafting legal documentation Knowledge or capacity to scale familiarity of legislation, case law and other precedents in any areas of law administered by the agency and which have an impact on the government Proven ability to deliver timely and relevant legal services collaboratively, inclusively and flexibly in a high-volume complex environment Ability to exhibit and model the OGC’s purpose, promise and principles in contributing to the work of the legal function within Treasury Investing in you The team you will join is made up of a diverse and welcoming group of people.
