Data Sciences and Advanced Capability contributes to the department by supporting the planning, development and production implementation of decision information support systems spanning multiple hazards. Consisting of a team of technical and operational specialists, the unit is responsible for managing a range of specialist analytics and decision support tools and systems that enable QFD to meet community needs. Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team, assisting in delivering a new frontline mapping officer capability for QFD. You will provide administration functions and project support, and assist by developing artefacts for the establishment of the project including implementing frameworks, standard operating procedures, and stakeholder engagement in consultation with senior officers to ensure products and processes align to the organisations strategic direction and operational capability. About Us The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes. The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state. The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department's relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap and building our cultural capability. Key requirements Highly desirable requirements: Experience with front line volunteer operations, specifically those involving the use of enterprise and mobile mapping technologies. Experience with provision of administrative support in a project environment. Project management experience, including the creation and delivery of implementation guidelines and frameworks for digital products. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Your key accountabilities Responsibilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: Provide project and administrative support to the team in the development and review of policy, frameworks and programs, and any associated tasks to ensure quality outcomes are delivered. Assist in the research, preparation and review of reports, briefing notes, submissions, reports, and other correspondence relating to program initiatives, in accordance with departmental requirements and governance. Coordinate and undertake consultation activities, including the documentation and recording of such activities, and provide recommendations for improvement or solutions that may impact successful program delivery. Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consideration of issues and delivery of positive outcomes which support the implementation of advanced capability strategies and programs. Identify information needs in relation to the implementation of the program and business improvement initiatives, and provide advice about the progress of activities and milestones to meet program objectives. Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, policies and procedures, including ensuring content and information is available in support of proactive service delivery. Work under limited supervision using a high level of initiative to resolve issues, deliver practical solutions and disseminate information which supports business outcomes.
