About the Role We are seeking a skilled and results-driven National Manager to lead AUSTRAC’s Program and Capability Branch. Reporting to the General Manager, Transformation, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, prioritisation, and governance of AUSTRAC’s project portfolio. This role plays a key part in ensuring that the agency’s initiatives align with its strategic objectives and government priorities while driving business transformation.As a member of AUSTRAC’s Executive Leadership Group, you will also contribute to the agency’s broader governance and strategic decision-making processes. Who We Are Looking For We are looking for a leader with a proven track record in portfolio management, business transformation, and capability development within the public sector. The ideal candidate will have: Demonstrated experience in portfolio management and senior-level program/project management, change, or business transformation. Proven success in managing large-scale programs, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget while navigating competing priorities. Strong leadership skills and the ability to foster high-performing teams and drive cultural change. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging with senior executives and government officials. A solid understanding of public sector governance, risk management, and procurement processes. Duties and Responsibilities Lead the strategic planning, prioritisation, and governance of AUSTRAC’s project portfolio, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. Oversee the development and implementation of portfolio and change management frameworks and tools. Monitor and report on portfolio performance, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement. Drive the identification and realisation of value across AUSTRAC’s portfolio, ensuring effective use of resources and the achievement of intended outcomes. Lead initiatives to enhance organisational capabilities, particularly in project management, change management, and service design. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the agency. Engage with senior executives, government officials, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with broader government objectives. Lead and manage a team of professionals, ensuring a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture. Manage the budget, resources, and operational planning for the Program and Capability Branch.
