About us The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness, and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes. The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state. The QFD is an organisation that is focused on reframing the department’s relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through the Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap, and building our cultural capability. Purpose of the role The Training and Development unit comprises operational and non-operational staff within four teams – staff development, volunteer training development, volunteer training delivery, and resource development. The Staff Development function focuses on the creation and roll-out of the staff development framework and supporting training packages, including the RFSQ staff induction program, and sharing resources relevant to volunteers to enhance operational capability. Reporting to the Manager, you will support the planning and implementation of RFSQ staff development initiatives, assisting with project management functions such as risks, issues, decisions, benefits management, and scheduling. You will also provide advice and support to regional staff and volunteer trainers to support the coordination of staff development activities. Key requirements Highly desirable requirements: Experience with the provision of administrative support in a project environment. Knowledge of, or experience working with volunteers and/or within a volunteer organisation. Your key accountabilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: Provide administrative support to various RFSQ staff development projects and programs through involvement in planning, development, implementation, review, and evaluation of project activities and initiatives. Provide administrative advice and support to regional staff and volunteer trainers to support the delivery and coordination of staff development activities. Support the administration and coordination of a range of workshops and meetings relevant to staff development objectives and participate in projects to ensure positive outcomes and business objectives are achieved. Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of systems, policies, and procedures that support the delivery of staff development initiatives. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consideration of issues and delivery of positive outcomes. Assist in the preparation and coordination of reports, correspondence, and briefings relevant to business objectives in accordance with departmental requirements. Contribute to the review and evaluation of processes that support the effective implementation of RFSQ staff development projects and programs. Undertake research, analysis, and provide advice for continuous improvement to staff development programs to support the development and adherence to quality systems.
