About Inland Rail The Inland Rail Program is a 1600km rail infrastructure project stretching from Brisbane to Melbourne incorporating new and existing rail track. The program includes the upgrading of existing standard gauge track, the enhancement of existing standard gauge track to cater for double stacking and the construction of new standard gauge links comprising of viaducts, tunnels, rail track, crossings and bridges. About the opportunity As the Project Manager for Gowrie to Kagaru (G2K), you are to ensure that the project scope and design requirements are commercially aligned and appropriately addressed within the scheduled timeframes. Cost constraints and budget approvals are to be managed, risks are to be identified and mitigated, and all necessary resources, approvals, and stakeholders are aligned to enable a smooth transition into the construction phase. Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Be responsible for the G2K objectives, detailed scope, costs, scheduling, safety and environmental impact. Support the assessment of Approvals and development strategies and plans for G2K. Report to the Senior Project Manager (or delegate) on the physical and financial progress issues related to the project to ensure timely and accurate information is provided where necessary. Liaise with all stakeholders on the costing, scoping and implementation of the "Inland Rail Program". Monitor and evaluate the performance of the project by conducting regular reviews of project milestones against actual indicators to resolve issues as they arise to mitigate any impact on project delivery. Assist in the preparation of contract documentation and submissions to gain approvals at various management delegations. Manage the administration of contracts to ensure prompt assessment of claims and finalisation of contract documentation. Implement ARTC's Project Management Procedures for all aspects of the project life cycle. Liaise closely with Approvals delivery Leads and Advisors to ensure Approvals matters are addressed and aligned with delivery strategies and undertake other duties as requested. About You To be successful in this role you will need to be an organised, strategic, and proactive leader who excels in planning, problem-solving, and stakeholder management. You should be detail-oriented yet adaptable, capable of balancing scope, budget, and schedule while managing risks effectively. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential for coordinating diverse teams and securing approvals. You must also be decisive under pressure, ensuring smooth project execution. A deep understanding of safety, quality, and compliance standards is crucial, along with the ability to foster collaboration and maintain a results-driven mindset. To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate: Degree in civil engineering or equivalent qualifications. Project management experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering or infrastructure environment. Client-side project delivery experience in planning/delivery phase - Environmental approvals, design, procurement. Experience in project development phase through to delivery of large-scale projects. Negotiation skills and the ability to influence. Highly developed written and oral communication and presentation skills. Highly developed problem resolution and interpersonal skills. Commercial acumen. Drivers Licence - Class C. Rail experience will be advantageous. Experience in management, construction and/or delivery of major project contracts. Eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia. Experience in tendering and negotiation of contracts of varying complexities.
