We now have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Project Officer to join our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Marine Science (ATSIMS) Program. Part time (29hrs), fixed-term until December 2025, with possibility of extension Based at our Bebegu Yumba Townsville campus $74,401 - $84,388 per year (pro rata for part time) plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. ABOUT THE ROLE You will provide high-quality administrative and operational support to ensure the ATSIMS program achieves its program goals. Acting as a key liaison between participants, stakeholders, staff, and volunteers, you will deliver accurate and engaging communication packages, prepare timely and detailed project reports, and foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and innovation within the program team. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Degree qualification in a relevant field or 2 years of related work experienced. Demonstrated experience in working effectively and in culturally appropriate contexts with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Demonstrated project support experience including the ability to plan and deliver events or workshops. Effective computer and data entry skills using the Microsoft Office suite and ability to adapt to the use of new software packages with high attention to detail. Informed organisational and problem-solving skills to judge shifting priorities and work both independently and as a member of a team. Demonstrated well-developed written and oral communication skills in dealing with people from a variety of backgrounds both internal and external to the organisation. Desirable: Previous experience working in the Higher Education sector or other large complex organisations and an understanding of complex policies, procedures and systems. Previous experience working in field-based settings delivering education programs. Previous experience in boating and snorkelling in education settings.
