Find purpose you feel, impact you see and a legacy you bring to life. #DAFcareers As Our Project Officer (Geo-Spatial Information), You Will Demonstrate your ability to develop and administer spatial information applications and datasets as well as ability to develop and implement computer software solutions relating to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and desktop mapping applications (e.g. ESRI ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Survey123) Just imagine what you could achieve with us. The opportunity as our Project Officer (Geo-Spatial Information), you will: Undertake the installation, maintenance of and technical support for GIS desktop applications. Provide technical advice and support to GIS users. You may be required to provide the following GIS services: Geoprocessing, cartographic mapping, and creation of routine and customised maps using the Program's standard mapping templates incorporating industry standards. Maintain and update spatial data stored in an enterprise geodatabase. Write technical manuals to support GIS applications and online mapping platforms. Have a sound knowledge and experience with GPS and related field data capture methods and techniques. Provide technical advice to stakeholders about the project, manage routine project communications and organise the distribution/upload of project resources. Assist in the development and implementation of projects, initiatives and policies that progress the department's commitment to the Program. Oversee the management of project related documentation in accordance with project procedures (this may involve establishing and/or negotiating procedures) and departmental guidelines. Research and analyse information, and prepare correspondence, reports, briefings and submissions regarding the development, progress and delivery of project milestones if required. Research and analyse the project subject area/focus to either identify emerging issues and suggest possible solutions or to inform best practice or to improve project efficiency or to improve the quality of project outcomes. Use appropriate project management techniques, methodologies, and tools (including relevant software) in line with departmental requirements. Use analytical, conceptual interpretation of spatial information accessing textural data and critical thinking skills to coordinate multiple tasks within agreed priorities, timeframes, and accountabilities. May be required to undertake team leader duties or an equivalent portfolio task. Develop routine communication plans and moderately complex project documents, contribute to the development of high level project documents and review documents drafted by other project staff.
