The Public Health Team Coordinator oversees the daily activities of the Public Health program’s community-based staff in Nhulunbuy, providing hands-on support and mentorship for Yolngu team members working across various outreach programs.This is a full-time, fixed term position until 30 June 2027 based in Nhulunbuy. About Miwatj Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. This role coordinates daily activities of Gove-based community staff through daily team meetings, ensuring community workers are supported to carry out activities in line with their program work plans, communicate any issues to program managers and work collaboratively to resolve them. Support community workers employed under a number of grant agreements, including the Rheumatic Fever Strategy (RFS) and Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) grant, to coordinate daily activities. Work in collaboration with and take direction from the Healthy Wäŋa Project Officer to implement activities under the Rheumatic Fever Strategy (RFS). Candidates must have post-secondary qualifications in a relevant discipline or significant experience in training and development of Aboriginal staff and will also have an understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal Community Control, self-determination, and the issues faced by Yolŋu people living in remote settings.
