Job Description

Purpose: Perform functions to develop supplier base. Negotiate and recommend to management favorable terms and conditions maintaining quality specifications and delivery schedules. Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or supply chain management. Experience Requirements: 2-3 years prior experience in a purchasing role in a manufacturing environment preferred. Physical Requirements: Computer and clerical work with a sit/stand option. Competency Requirements: Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate well with others. Experience working in ERP Systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Responsibilities: Identify new sources of supply capable of supporting current requirements. Investigate and research new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery. Negotiate improved prices, terms and conditions related to least total cost for assigned items. Create and reschedule purchase orders for piece parts, assemblies, and services necessary to support the company’s needs for assigned commodities. Expedite material and order status information from suppliers. Investigate and resolve problems resulting from material shortages, production delays, or materials quality problems. Manage inventory and disposition of excess/obsolete material based on defined goals. Monitor supplier quality and delivery level based on established goals and take action to ensure a continuous improvement process is in place. Keep abreast of materials and material pricing trends that affect company products. Investigate and solve problems resulting from supply shortages. Recommend and maintain control parameters in ERP System. Monitor and report savings to Purchasing Manager.
