Job Description

Registered Nurse (Alcohol & Other Drugs) Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training. In December 2024, we commenced providing health, mental health and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team, which includes nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals, offer a wide range of healthcare services to detainees, such as triaging, medication, wound management, immunisation, and other clinical procedures. HCA also introduced a Virtual Care Centre (VCC), a 24/7 service that provides remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations, helping to enhance onsite care for detainees. This is a Part-time position as Registered Nurse (Alcohol and Other Drugs), based at Northam. Located 90km northeast of Perth, the Yongah Hill detention centre clinic operates very similar to a community clinic. Location allowance $10.00 per day - Food allowance $35.00 per day. As Registered Nurse (Alcohol and Other Drugs), you will work within a harm reduction framework, providing assessment and referral pathways for detainees utilizing evidence-based treatment. Join us in bringing a new approach to medical and wellbeing care for detainees by: Participating in the assessment, planning and implementation of care based on individual detainee AOD needs incorporating a holistic and harm reduction approach to the delivery of AOD primary health care services. Undertaking a wide range of clinical duties including but not limited to AOD health assessments, care planning, medication administration, health promotion and education, ensuring care is evidence-based and delivered using clinical guidelines and practice to underpin competency. Working in collaboration with the primary health care team to ensure a multidisciplinary, coordinated and integrated approach to service delivery. Undertaking person-centred nursing assessments, utilizing a range of screening and clinical assessment tools. Maintaining a high standard of conduct and work performance to promote HCA’s reputation with key internal and external stakeholders. Let's talk about you! Current AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1). Current First Aid & BLS Certification. Current Police Check. Must have at least 5 years post-graduate nursing experience and AOD experience in a relevant health care setting and/or relevant post-graduate AOD qualifications (desirable). Knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues in the delivery of drug and alcohol-related health services and the ability to understand and apply relevant Commonwealth and State legislation, policies, standards, guidelines and frameworks to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations.
