Registered Nurse - Statewide Mental Health Services - Fixed-term and Casual Employment Register Location: Australia, Tas Closing Date: Jan 31, 2025 About Tasmania Government About the Tasmanian State Service The Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services to the Tasmanian community at all levels. What skills do I need to work in mental health? Core nursing skills including critical thinking, nursing assessment, care planning, monitoring and observation, and medication safety. Compassionate and empathic disposition. Effective communication skills to establish therapeutic relationships with consumers and their families. Self-awareness and reflective practice. Interest in people from all walks of life with a non-judgmental attitude. Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening. Ability to remain calm and use de-escalation skills. Minimum Requirements: Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse. The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this position must satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion, or transfer.
